Blackstone Labs Motor OIL report at 1270 miles…for V8 Camaro

Do you have plans to own and keep your 5th generation Camaro for years or perhaps decades? As any auto enthusiast knows, the first step towards achieving that goal is a proper maintenance regimen, with engine maintenance perhaps at the top of the list. Real maintenance warriors often have their recently swapped motor oil analyzed by oil experts to determine whether their oil change schedule is frequent enough to ensure the engine’s longevity.
Member 350 HRSS (Angela)’s Camaro recently had her first oil change at 1270 miles (nearly at the recommended 1500 mile break-in mark). As expected with the first oil change, some metals and silicon were found in the oil (owing to the new engine breaking in). Oil filtration was reported as excellent. And perhaps the most interesting remark in the report was the recommendation that on a slow-to-break-in V8, short (~1500 mile) oil changes should be performed all the way up to ~10,000 miles.
