Although subject to various interpretations, Bob Lutz’s most recent comments perhaps dampens the possibility of the Camaro Z28 program being given the go-ahead in the near future. In conversations with Automobile Magazine, Lutz casts some doubt on the potential Camaro Z28 by stating that powerful V6′s and turbo 4 cylinder engines are a better indication of GM’s future direction with respect to mainstream sports car like the Camaro. The silver lining here is that he didn’t affirmatively say that a Camaro Z28 program was out of the question or that the Z28 program had been permanently cancelled. There’s hope yet we believe!
