This is an oldie thread by now, but worth a look for those who didn’t catch it when first posted.

The photos were brought to us from the annual “Meet in the Middle Event,” where Camaro owners from Dallas/North Texas, Houston, and other Texas Camaro clubs meet in Centerville for a BBQ.

Forum member SSRSLY had the opportunity to cruise and be photographed with an original 1969 Z10 Pace Car coupe (the inspiration for her car). Hugger Orange on White never looked so good!

HERE is the first official Chevrolet Performance video of the initial COPO Camaro concept testing.

The COPO Camaro is a concept designed to the specifications for NHRA Stock Eliminator drag racing competition. It’s designed to accommodate more than one engine option, including a naturally aspirated 427 engine (7.0L) – the same displacement as the original COPO Camaros from 1969 – and a supercharged 327 (5.3L) engine. Among the many racing-specific features and equipment is a conversion from the Camaro’s standard independent rear axle to a solid axle, as well as a full chrome moly roll cage.

So, how’d it do?? The first hit off the trailer was a 9.90 at 138 MPH, with several subsequent passes in the 9.70’s. The COPO Camaro’s best run was a 9.69 at 140, with 60 foot times in the low 1.40’s.

To the dismay of “IBM” fans, news has come that the imperial blue metallic color for the Camaro will be discontinued soon.

According to Fbodfather:

Because Camaro shares a common body and paint shop with several other vehicle lines at Oshawa, we must abide by decisions that affect more than just Camaro – and thus Imperial Blue Metallic will be discontinued very shortly. Offering it for only a week or so on the ZL1 is not practical as it would require paint re-validation for ZL1-unique components such as bumper fascias. Crystal Red Tintcoat will be available to order shortly. We will have further information as to order cut-off dates for LS, LT, and SS models in Imperial Blue Metallic very shortly.

Unfortunately, no blue color will be offered for any Camaro models for 2012.

Chevy Announces Auction of the Military Tribute Camaro

Posted by: admin In: Main ()

DETROIT – At [this past] Saturday’s 112th Army-Navy Game presented by USAA, Chevrolet [announced] that proceeds from next month’s sale of a special Military Tribute Camaro will go to the Achilles Freedom Team of Wounded Veterans.

Chevrolet is the official vehicle of what has been called “America’s Game,” which [began] at 2:30 p.m. EST on CBS and the Armed Forces Network from FedEx Field in Landover, Md.

Chevrolet is hosting several military families and Achilles team members at the game, and is paying tribute to wounded servicemen and women and the team with a 30-second TV spot and a short tribute to members who participated in the recent Detroit Free Press / Talmer Bank Marathon. An accompanying article at chevy.com/military profiles hand cyclist Lance Cpl. Justin Gaertner of Pasco County, Fla., who lost both legs while serving his third tour in Afghanistan.

“We at Chevrolet want to do all we can to show our gratitude to the men and women serving in our armed forces, those who come home with life-changing injuries, like Cpl. Gaertner, and our fallen heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country,” said Chris Perry, vice president, Chevrolet Global Marketing and Strategy.

CBS Sports will show the car in a segment with GM Chairman and CEO Dan Akerson, a U.S. Naval Academy graduate; Genna Griffith, director of the Achilles Freedom Team, and team members. Last year at the game, Chevrolet donated a Silverado HD pickup to the Achilles team to transport athletes’ hand cycles and other equipment.

The Military Tribute Camaro represents all five branches of the armed forces (Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard) and some of the military’s highest individual awards and current campaign medals. It will be sold by Barrett-Jackson, an auctioneer of collector vehicles, at its Jan. 17-22 event in Scottsdale, Ariz.

The car was designed by award-winning artist Mickey Harris. Harris, who grew up on military installations, has been airbrushing for 33 years and has an extensive portfolio of military art that has earned him worldwide acclaim.

Good morning, Camaro comrades!

MVB and CTF ZL1 Camaros Hit the Road

Posted by: admin In: Main ()

We’re inching ever closer to the production and deliveries of customer’s ZL1s!

Although customer ordered ZL1s have not yet started production, GM has started production on “MVB” and “CTF” ZL1 models (spotted recently for the first time in Ontario – pictured below).

MVB cars are manufacturing vehicle build (non-saleable) models, and CTF cars are captive test fleet vehicles given to GM’s Camaro team members to test drive for final evaluation purposes just prior to market release.

The several hundred thousand miles that will be put on the CTF ZL1 Camaros will allow for extensive examination of the ZL1′s build quality prior to shipping the first customer vehicles.
