Congrats to site members Raven and SilverTurtle as they have just picked up the very first 45th Anniversary edition Camaro Convertible produced, VIN 314.

The 45th Anniversary Special Edition commemorates both Camaro’s lineage and its 21st-century revival. – Unique 45th Anniversary hood and deck stripes; badges located beneath the front fender emblems
– New-design 20-inch wheels in dark silver
– Fog lamp and taillamp bezels finished in dark silver
– RS-style taillamp lenses
– Standard rear spoiler and HID headlamps

Video: Special Edition Camaros Revisited

Posted by: admin In: Main ()

A reflection of its heritage, designed for the present, a future piece of automotive history. By its very nature, every Camaro special edition is a consecration of a moment in the Camaro story, whether it’s the 1967 Indy Pace Car Replica or the 2012 45th Anniversary Edition. This is not an equal-opportunity vehicle. It’s a machine bought out of love, devotion, passion and the pinnacle of enthusiasm for an automotive brand.

The first Camaro special edition was born on the track. But it’s become much more. Each model highlights different aspects of what it means to be a Camaro. The Neiman Marcus edition is pure luxury and design. Synergy Series is sporty and aggressive. And the Indy Pace Car Replica? That’s a grand tradition that continues to this day. Check out the video and features inside.

Report: 6th Gen Coming as 2015 Camaro

Posted by: admin In: Main ()

Automotive News reports that the 6th generation Camaro will be due in mid-late 2014 as a 2015 model. This is in line with reports from other publications, as well as the generally accepted timeline by our forum community.

The next gen Camaro will make a switch from its current Zeta platform to the smaller RWD Alpha platform which will also underpin the upcoming Cadillac ATS. With the platform switch, the next gen Camaro has been widely expected to be smaller and lighter.

Keep in mind however that timing is of course always subject to change, but this appears to be the plan for now.

The entire 2012-2014 Chevrolet product lineup according to Automotive News is INSIDE.

Report: 6th Gen Coming as 2015 Camaro

Market share sales numbers for convertibles is down, way down.

Convertible volumes traditionally have hovered between 1.8% to 2.0% of the market depending on the number of convertible entries available, overall automotive market health and the freshness of some of the market-leading convertibles. During the downturn, the convertible segment fell to 1.4 to 1.2% of the market.

The question now is, “Will this market be able to rebound to the 1.8 – 2.0% market share that we have seen in the past?” In 2011, we are seeing a slight uptick in convertible volumes – up about 3% from the same period last year, but this lags the overall recovery of the automotive market which increased 15.6% from CYTD of a year ago. The convertible market is losing share.

On the positive side however, some new convertible models are doing very well in the market. The new Camaro convertible is leading all convertibles with over 7,500 registrations so far this year. The Mercedes E Class and Mitsubishi Eclipse convertibles are also doing very well. The Chrysler 200 Convertible is also helping offset lost sales from the Sebring Convertible which has been a top-seller in years past. New product is one of the keys to driving sales of convertibles.

Through the first 5 months of 2011, the Camaro convertible has been the top selling convertible, accounting for 12.4 percent of the entire convertibles sold in the US.
