According to TheDetroitBureau.com, GM is planning to alter its strategy with the next-generation C7 Corvette to appeal to a wider range of customers by offering a small-displacement high-revving turbocharged V8 motor. Full details on the rumored engine.
This leads to the natural question for Camaro owners — whether the Camaro will or should also adopt such an engine if it comes to fruition.
Seeing as how GM shares some motors throughout its range of vehicles, it’s certainly possible that the future Camaros may see such an impressive motor (or a slightly altered form of it), in one of its higher performance models. And since the next generation Alpha platform based Camaro is supposed to be lighter/smaller, it would certainly be an interesting pairing with a small displacement high-revving turbo motor.

Jay Leno reviews the 602hp Hennessey HPE600 Camaro Convertible on his Jay Leno’s Garage web series.
John Hennessey’s back with his latest and greatest. What’s the method to his road madness? Well, it starts with a supercharger, some new wheels and a fuel injector upgrade, and before you know it, the top’s down and you’re cruisin’ at 602 hp!
This isn’t the first instance of Jay Leno’s interest in or review of the Camaro. Quite the opposite in fact.
For those who don’t remember, Leno provided the inspiration and philosophy behind the Chevrolet Jay Leno Camaro SEMA Concept car.
He also previously reviewed the 2010 Camaro SS on his show, as well as taking the Camaro Concept for a spin to a Bob’s Big Boy classic car meet back in 2006.
