Site member cornerspeed92 recently took his Camaro SS 1LE to where it most belongs – on the track, at Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, California, where he participated in a trackday event.
According to him, the only car that passed his 1LE all day was a Corvette ZR1. He has posted many videos and photos from the event, so have a look inside. You may even see several Mustangs (including a Shelby) being dealt with by the 1LE

This can’t be but good news for the weight of the 6th gen Camaro.
When General Motors CEO Dan Akerson vowed last week to cut the weight of new models 15 percent by the 2016 model year, he put his engineers on a rigorous schedule.
Is it doable? Yes, but it’s a stretch, says one knowledgeable industry consultant.
“It will be a big effort,” said Richard Schultz, managing director of Ducker Worldwide in suburban Detroit, an adviser on mass reduction to GM and other automakers. “That’s a lot of work, and GM doesn’t have a lot of time.” Continued HERE.

The Houston Camaro Club recently orgainized a Camaro Corral for the Grand AM race at Circuit of the Americas (COA).
There were at least a dozen other car corrals around the track, but the group had top billing for this event by far. Their corral parking was directly behind the main grandstands where they could see the video screens, leader board and easily migrate back and forth between their choice seats and their Camaros.
Check out the great event photo set inside.

Chevrolet has announced that the COPO Camaro is back for 2013, and once again 69 units will be available.
First we’ll get into what we’re sure is your biggest question, the engines. This year will see three engines like last year, but in different configurations. The wildly popular 427 stays and gets the biggest spotlight. Which is good, considering over half of last year’s 69 examples were ordered with the big V-8. This year it stays at 425 horsepower. A new entry-level LS-based 350 rated at 325 horsepower also joins the roster. But what sits in the middle is the real newsmaker. Fans who were around in 1969 to see the release of the original Camaro will wax nostalgic over the final configuration, an LS-based 396-cu.-in. big-block engine, making the same 375 horsepower it did under the hood of the 1969 Camaros. New for 2013 is a standard Holley EFI controller on all configurations, which pays a nice homage to the Holley carburetors every 1969 COPO Camaro came with as standard. All three engines are hand-built and are still LS-based, so tried-and-true tuning will work just the same on the familiar architecture, making it easy to set up your COPO to run down the competition.

Chevrolet to Showcase Performance at NYIAS
GM Launching Five Global Debuts, One North American at 2013 Show
Chevrolet will showcase a new lineup of 2014 performance cars, including the all-new Corvette Stingray coupe and convertible, all-new SS performance sedan and refreshed Camaro.
“Chevrolet customers have validated our performance credentials, and we’re going to give them even more reasons to be enthused,” said Mark Reuss, president, GM North America.
The 2014 Camaro advances the design and performance attributes that have made it the most popular sports car under $50,000 for three consecutive years, while Chevrolet’s new SS is the brand’s first V-8-powered, rear-drive performance sedan since 1996. It’s based on a race-proven global platform and powered by a 6.2L V-8 rated at an estimated 415 hp.
