For the past year, Chevrolet and its advertising partners have been creating a short film about the Camaro’s enthusiast culture and heritage. They wanted to capture the essence of what the Camaro means to enthusiasts.

A man approached me [Moderator Mindz] at a Main Street in Motion event in Santa Clara , California last and introduced himself as Hank. He was almost a little too awake at 7:15 am and revealed that he represented Chevrolet’s marketing team. Hank said he was attending the event to take notes on peoples reactions about the new lineup of Chevy cars including the Camaro. After asking how so many Camaro owners had come out to the event together, Hank asked me about the forums and was very interested in our tight-knit community here. Naturally, Camaro5 Fest came up and Hank wanted to know all about it.

Fast forward to Camaro5 Fest II last April at Firebird International Raceway in Chandler, AZ. Hank’s company sent a team to rent a couple of Camaros and join the California caravan on their 13 hour trek to Arizona. Hank’s team documented their experience as well as interviewed a multitude of people at the Fest to get a sense of why the fifth gen Camaro was such a hit – and what it meant to be a Camaro enthusiast. They tapped into the culture and community behind Camaro5 to find their answers.

ZL1 deliveries have only begun recently, but we’ve already been given a taste of what a lightly modified ZL1 can run at the track.

Lingenfelter has wasted no time in modifying their ZL1s and they brought their red ZL1 (they also own a yellow ZL1) to Milan Dragway in Milan, Michigan for some runs.

With a supercharger pulley swap, reflashed ECU, 160 degree thermostat and LPE ported and polished air inatke with K&N filter, and skinnier tires front / Nitto NT05R drag radials back, this ZL1 was able to run 11.03 seconds @ 130mph in the quarter mile; nearly breaking into the 10′s.

Lingenfelter has taken delivery of not one, but two ZL1s and they’ve wasted no time in throwing the beasts onto the dyno, which is the first step in what is sure to be an extensive modification/upgrade process for the two cars.

Just in case you needed something to REALLY amp you up for Fest III, Chevrolet has finished composing a documentary on last year’s event and they’re sharing it with us, first!

They wanted to capture the essence of what the Camaro means to enthusiasts, like us here. The Camaro5 Fest is arguably the biggest and most enthusiast-focused 5th-gen oriented event in the nation – and that caught the eye of Chevy.

Just revealed is this teaser video for a longer film documenting the spirit of Camaro through the eyes of enthusiasts at Camaro5Fest II, in Chandler, AZ, last year. The full film will be posted on April 15th.

Less than four months to go – Camaro5 Fest III is coming up fast, and some new details [listed inside] have just been revealed, such as General Cruise information, Cost of Attendance, a Cell Phones for Soldiers opportunity, and a tentative schedule.

That’s right – the cruise is BACK this year, and it’s shaping up to be bigger and better than the original we hosted at the very first annual Camaro5Fest in Valdosta, GA. Complete with a police escort, Camaro5 Fest III cruise will not be something you want to miss!!

We are VERY excited about this year’s Fest: already we’ve got over 1500 people planning to attend, and we predict upwards of 800 Camaros to drool over! We’re far from finished planning exciting things to make this event second-to-none, so stay tuned for more information as it becomes available!

Here’s a photo to kick off the week with some fun speculation. Forum sponsor showstopper was installing a ZL1 diffuser when they came across this part on the mounting brackets. Clearly seen are the letters “Z28 I/B”.

Could this be a reference to a Camaro Z28 in some way? We don’t think it likely that there will be a Z28 model introduced for this fifth generation Camaro, especially considering that the 1LE performance package was just announced… but we could always be proven wrong
