The records and “firsts” keep coming for the 2012 Camaro ZL1. The Lingenfelter ZL1 which first broke into the 10′s has now become the first ZL1 to break the 200 MPH mark. After several attempts at slightly above 199mph, David Freiburger just ran 202.67 MPH at the Continental/General Tire Proving Grounds at Uvalde, TX. Nice Job Lingenfelter team!

Camaro5 members from the Music City Camaro Club met over the weekend for their club spring fling meet, with a fun component added – some friendly runs at the quarter mile track. As expected, all in attendance had a blast. The only downer of the day came when one club member blew a driveshaft.

Here’s your chance not only to win a coveted ZL1, but a rare and unique one at that. The Corvette National Museum is raffling off 1 of only 4 Imperial Blue Metallic ZL1s ever made (the ZL1 is not produced in this color). There were one-offs made to be GM show cars.

Redline Motorsports has just recorded the fastest ZL1 quarter mile run so far in just 10.32 @ 134.7 MPH [Watch the Runs].
They were out last night at PBIR with their ZL1 where the first pass off the trailer was 10.73, followed by 10.32 @ 134.2mph, and then the record setting run of 10.32 @ 134.7mph.
These runs were made with a full weight ZL1, using its stock 1.9 liter blower, stock heads, catalytic converters with a density altitude of well over 1000 feet. The ZL1′s mods include a Redline Motorsports proprietary camshaft, upper and lower pulleys, headers, improved heat exchanger, cold air intake, performance torque converter and Mickey Thompson drag radials. This all combines to make over 750hp and 700 ft-lb torque for this ZL1.

HOT ROD Unlimited takes a close look at the 2012 COPO Camaro, the baddest factory Camaro ever. The 2012 COPO Camaro is a pure drag racing car built to compete in NHRA Stock Eliminator and Super Stock classes, and in this episode of HOT ROD Unlimited, they go behind the scenes within General Motors to learn about the car, watch some radical burnouts, meet some of the people behind the COPO, see one of the engines on the dyno, and visit the Performance Build Center where the engines are assembled.

The 2012 Indy 500 will be run in just a few weeks, on Sunday, May 27th. To help with the weekend’s activities and festivities, an army of Camaros (mostly convertible, with a few coupes) are ready to serve as the Festival Cars, which will be used to shuttle track officials and other VIP around the weekend’s events and venues.
The Festival Cars are usually sold after their duties are completed. No word yet on what the 2012 Indy 500 Pace Car is or will be.

One of Lingenfelter’s ZL1 has cracked into the 10′s today! They were back at Muncie Dragway again today to test their yellow ZL1 in an attempt to get it into the 10′s and they’ve done by some margin, running a record for a ZL1 so far at 10.79 @ 134.35 mph.
This ZL1 has the components from Lingenfelter’s 700HP package, except they are spinning the supercharger faster (2.38″ upper pulley and 5% overdrive damper instead of 2.55″ upper pulley and 10% overdrive damper). They are also running VP109 unleaded race gas and have the calibration modified for that fuel.
Power at the rear wheels is 722 hp and 651 lbs-ft. Follow their thread inside for updates of potentially even faster runs today!
