Torq’s project ZL1 is not even a week old and it’s already collecting the accolades. With only 68 miles on the odometer, the ZL1 was driven from Miami to Atlanta for the Chevy High Performance Nationals at the Atlanta Dragway. It competed in a triathlon style event for some serious performing cars.
The events included a brake stop Challenge, drag racing and an Auto-X event. Competitors included some serious machines purpose built for these kind of events, but none of them could match the ZL1′s performance.
The Torq ZL1 won the Chevy High Performance Auto-X challenge 2 days in a row, Top Ride Shootout Brake Stop Challenge, and the Top ride Shootout Auto-X event which gave an overall point lead, making it the winner of the Top Ride Shootout! See INSIDE for some competition photo and Torq’s reaction.

Per Fbodfather:
– I’ve had a hard time coming up with a name for this one…..
If you read my note about ‘Brother Ezekial / BroZeke’ – you’ll recall that I talked about how ‘liveable’ the ZL1 can be — it’s without question the best riding Camaro we’ve ever built…and yet the best handling Camaro we’ve ever built as well….
–but when you ‘punch it’ – you see the ‘other side’ of this amazing automobile (…if I must say so myself….) … "Dr Jekel/Mr Hyde"……..
As I’ve driven him over the past couple of days – I kept mulling over what I’d call a strong guy with class –
(…Scott!!….)
(OK -you can stop the snickering and get back up off the floor now……
Many ideas — but I got to thinking of James Bond – - athletic – smooth – very well bred — looks good in a tuxedo, but don’t tick him off……………..because he’ll kick you to Kingdom come, so to speak…..
And so – unless someone else comes up with a better name…
(and if you do, there may be a package in the mail to you…) —-
I present “Mr. Bond” —

Just revealed today is the Camaro ZL1 Grand Am 200 pace car which will pace the upcoming Grand Am 200 races. The photos have lit our ZL1 forum abuzz with guesses as to which color blue this ZL1 pace car is painted in.
Upon first gloss, it appears to be very similar to the now discontinued Aqua Blue Metallic (ABM) color for the Camaro, but sources with knowledge of the car say that it’s not ABM. Care to take a guess at which blue color it may be? Share your guesses INSIDE.

Camaro5 members from the Florida coast region gathered this past weekend for a fun (but wet) Memorial Day BBQ & Meet. Over 30 Camaros and 70 folks made it out to the event. Unfortunately, the skies opened up during the event and the group had to endure a downpour, but a fun time and good food was still had by all.

You would think that watching cars leave from a meet would be an uneventful activity, but not when the event is one of the Cars and Coffee meets held across the country every weekend. That’s because these events typically see an impressive array of exotics and enthusiast cars.
This past weekend’s Katie’s Cars and Coffee event held in Great Falls, Virginia saw some Camaro ZL1s show for the first time. Watch and listen to an impressive group of automobiles (including ZL1s) as they take off from the event – VIDEO.

The cars nearly bankrupted him, but if Fred Gibb is known for anything among Chevrolet performance enthusiasts, it’s for convincing Chevrolet to fit the storied all-aluminum ZL1 427-cu.in. V-8 into a handful of Camaros, thus creating one of the fiercest and fastest cars on the dragstrip. Recently, the first of those cars hammered at Mecum’s Spring Classic auction in Indianapolis for $400,000, a figure some are already calling the deal of a lifetime.

This poor ZL1 barely saw 11 miles of real world driving before taking some serious mechanical damage. Luckily, it’s probably not totaled, but will be a hard sell regardless.

Chevrolet recently brought several Indy and NASCAR drivers out to General Motor’s Proving Grounds in Milford, Michigan last week as part of a Chevrolet program to reward the company’s top 50 dealers. Dealers from across the United States were brought to the Proving Grounds and treated to the thrill ride of a lifetime in the new Chevy ZL1 Camaro driven by a cast of Chevy drivers. The perfect car for these hot laps, the ZL1 Camaro was the right combination of sports car and high performance.
Chevy brought out IndyCar drivers Helio Castroneves, Will Power, JR Hildebrand and Ryan Briscoe as well as NASCAR drivers Juan Pablo Montoya and Jeff Burton to give the top dealers hot laps in the new ZL1 Camaro.
