Well it’s that time of year again. After a summer that seemed to last forever and unbelievably high temps the weather is finally starting to cool down. The end of the racing season is drawing closer and the auto industry is gearing up for its year end party. That’s right, the SEMA show in Las Vegas is just around the corner. As always we don’t expect the SEMA show to disappoint us with the amount of automotive eye candy on display. However, like you, I wanted to see if I could score a sneak peak at some of the upcoming builds for the show. Recently I sat down with Mike White of Whiteside Customs, INC. in McKinney, Texas to see what their plans were for the show. I wasn’t quite prepared to hear what he had to say but to say I was excited would be a severe understatement. Read inside for the interview.

Spotted at a Chevy dealer conference in the Westin Harbour Castle Hotel in Toronto, Ontario, Canada was the the first yellow Camaro ZL1 shown to the public. What’s most interesting about this ZL1 (besides the new color), is its grille, which is a never before seen design and which matches the lower valence grille very nicely. It already seems to be a big hit among our members!

A fortuitous track day with the Hotchkis H-team landed site member ddunerider’s Camaro a spot on The Car Show with Adam Corolla (on SpeedTV). The episode will air next Wednesday (10/5). Be sure to set your DVRs as they put this Camaro SS up against some cool cars, so we’re told.

A unique one-off 2012 Camaro ZL1 was auctioned off tonight at the Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction in Las Vegas, NV. This particular model will be the only 2012 Camaro ZL1 in Carbon Flash Metallic. It will also feature a VIN that honors the original ZL1’s – a VIN ending in 00069. Only 69 of those first ZL1’s were produced in the 1969 model year. All proceeds from the auction’s sale will benefit the YMCA of Southern Nevada.

INSIDE are the first photos of the world’s first and only carbon flash metallic Camaro ZL1, which will come up for auction this Saturday at Barrett Jackson.

This particular model will be the only 2012 Camaro ZL1 in Carbon Flash Metallic. It will also feature a VIN that honors the original ZL1’s – a VIN ending in 00069. Only 69 of those first ZL1’s were produced in the 1969 model year. All proceeds from the auction’s sale will benefit the YMCA of Southern Nevada. The ZL1 is scheduled to cross the block sometime between 8:00 to 10:00 PM, EDT on Saturday 9/24, so be sure to catch it on Speed TV.

As announced yesterday, Chevy has now updated their Camaro ZL1 site with two new feature videos. They give some great insight into the development of the ZL1′s launch control system and magnetic ride suspension system.

To add to the recent doses of new Camaro ZL1 info and photos, here is a new video we’ve just posted, in what is hands down the best footage yet of the Camaro ZL1 in full out pedal to the metal testing runs at the Nurburgring track in Germany. <Video Inside>

We’re able to hear the ZL1′s engine and exhaust like never before and its 580hp with Magnetic Ride Control certainly seems to handling the challenging Nurburgring with both power and agility.

Yvan Muller, WTCC World Champion with Chevrolet, made this fun Camaro drifting and track video.

This video has been filmed in Navarra circuit in Spain. Muller and his friends did it for free.

Muller’s idea for this film was to create some buzz and excitement, then maybe find some funding to make an new one.

Here are the first photos of the Camaro ZL1 in Cyber Gray Metallic and Imperial Blue Metallic. Yummmm!

Both of these ZL1s were at the Nurburgring conducting testing.

That now makes five colors that the ZL1 has been shown in completely uncovered – Victory Red, Summit White, Silver Ice, Cyber Gray Metallic, and Imperial Blue Metallic. If you missed any of these colors, you can catch it at the ZL1 photos/videos compilation thread.

The ZL1 is set to hit the market in Spring 2012. Here is the ZL1 key dates timetable.
