Another milestone towards the market launch of the 2012 Camaro ZL1 has just occurred this morning – the Dealer Reference Guide has now been made available to dealers. Information regarding ZL1 specs, equipment, options, and dealer allocations are now available.

Maryland based professional pinstriper Chris Dunlop has given a Camaro the most unique stripe job yet. While his usual tools are paint and brushes, Dunlop used something which we all have around the home to adorn this Camaro – a sharpie market pen.

AAC recently teamed up with West Coast Customs, Operation Mend UCLA, and Mecum Auctions on a special Camaro build to help raise money for wounded Military personnel in Iraq and Afghanistan, providing them with plastic and reconstructive surgery, mental health support and other specialty care. [Details inside]
Operation Mend is a partnership among UCLA Medical Center, Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, and the Veterans Administration Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System that was established to help treat U.S. Military personnel severely wounded during service in Iraq and Afghanistan.
This special Camaro was auctioned off for $330,000 last week and the proceeds went to the benefit of Operation Mend.

Chevrolet announced today the brand’s most-powerful convertible ever – the 2013 Camaro ZL1 will debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show next month. When it goes on sale in late 2012, it will deliver more performance and technology than many exotic cars and ultra-luxury convertibles.
The Camaro ZL1 convertible will be one of the most powerful and most capable, convertibles available at any price, said Al Oppenheiser, Camaro chief engineer. “This is a car that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face every time you drop the top – or hit the gas.”
Like the coupe, the Camaro ZL1 convertible features a supercharged 6.2L “LSA” engine, SAE-rated at 580 horsepower (432 kW) and 556 lb.-ft. of torque (754 Nm). That’s enough to exceed the output of 2+2 convertibles of many performance icons, including:

GM North American President Mark Reuss has confirmed that the 2012 Camaro ZL1 laps the Nurburgring in 7:41.27 !!
The source is a tweet by Jason Laird, who happens to be Executive Director – Product and Technology Communications at General Motors.
This puts the ZL1 squarely in supercar territory when it comes to its Nurburgring lap time, a figure which is universally accepted as the benchmark by which all serious performing sports cars are measured. And man, does the ZL1 measure up well with this time!
