A situation has developed between Allied trucking and automakers General Motors and Chrysler that has deteriorated to the point of hostage-taking. The Detroit News reports that GM has filed a lawsuit against the car-hauling company that alleges it’s holding 1,700 of the automaker’s valuable Chevy Silverado and Camaro models that should be on their way to dealers. The vehicles in question are worth $47 million, and many of them are reportedly already bought and paid for by customers. The suit also claims that the inventory will depreciate in value if dealers don’t receive the vehicles, while at the same time dissatisfying customers. [Story continued at LINK]

Chevrolet’s Mainstreet In Motion Tour rolled through San Jose, California this past weekend and many Camaro5 members were in attendance. Site moderator Mindz provides a summary of the experience [Photos Inside]:
Arriving there at 6:20am while it was still dark and we were all zombies, Scott was bright eyed and bushy tailed. He had even just finished making some bagels for us…What a nice guy!
More and more people showed up for breakfast with Scott mingling and chatting with us, and around 8am or so, Scott sat us down and gave us a little information on the status of Chevy as well as the details of the test drives we were about to do. He then answered all our questions (some without answering) and sent us on our way. Not before coming out with Sharpies in hand to everyone that had an open hood or car door. American Revolution had a squad of about 8 or so cars rolling up in a convoy as we made our way out to the car corral. They roll deep and everyone of them sounded like a beast! It was nice meeting you Alfan and crew!
After taking the shuttle past the car corral to the test drive stations, there was a huge lineup of cars to drive from GMC/Buick/Chevrolet including the volt, cruze, equinox, camaro, malibu, corvette, silverado, and tahoe hybrid. Every station had informated employees waiting to answer any and all of our questions. There was a tremendous turnout even through the torrential downpour that started as soon as Scott was done signing our cars. All in all it was a great day and I’m glad I was able to share it with some many enthusiasts. Hope to see you all next time!

科迈罗 (Ke Mai Luo) doesn’t really mean anything, it’s just a phonetic translation of "Camaro." It will be interesting to see how well the car sells in China’s huge potential market!

Earlier today, SGM announced that Chevrolet will introduce the legendary Camaro sports car at Auto Shanghai 2011 in April. The Camaro will have a sonorous Chinese name ? 科迈罗 (Ke Mai Luo). The Ke Mai Luo with a 3.6-liter engine will be priced around RMB 500,000.
In recent years, China’s luxury sports car market has been flourishing, highlighted by the midsize luxury segment (priced at RMB 400,000–800,000), which grew 141% in 2010. At present, this segment is dominated by cars with European design. The Camaro, with its ?masculine? styling, will be a welcome addition.
Additional details about the Camaro will be announced at the Shanghai auto show.

Camaro5 members Richard and his girlfriend Erica felt close enough to fellow local Camaro enthusiasts to share with them their special occassion. Richard used the meet and greet occasion at Camino Real Chevrolet to pop the question to Erica, who of course said YES! [Photos from the happy moment inside].
Congrats to Richard and Erica from the entire Camaro5 community. The Camaro community continue to amaze us with its bond and camaraderie.
