As if Aaron Rodgers needed any more prize than the Superbowl Lombardi Trophy, earlier today GM presented the world champion Green Bay Packers quarterback a brand new 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible for being the Superbowl XLV MVP [photos from presentation]. This is the same red Camaro convertible which was displayed on the field during the postgame trophy ceremony.

Chevrolet had a huge presence during Superbowl XLV, with five 30-second commercials (including 2 for the Camaro), spanning all the way from pre-game through post-game, as well as awarding this Camaro convertible to the game’s MVP. Chevrolet’s TV presence even continued into a special post-game episode of "Glee," the FOX hit musical comedy.

A forum member spotted 8 Camaros in Death Valley over the weekend. Each Camaro wore Michigan manufacturer plates which makes it possible that the cars were out for evaluation purposes.

Two of the cars were white Camaro convertibles with black tops. The Camaro convertible just began production recently at the Oshawa plant and the first Convertibles should be in owner’s hands and on dealership floors in just a matter of weeks.

The most interesting sighting was the presence of a Camaro with the “sunglass” shaped LED tail lights. Camaros with these new shaped lights have been spotted multiple times in the past year (from Michigan to Germany). No confirmation yet on whether the revised styling elements represent some near future update for the Camaro or in what possible market(s) it may be introduced.

GM to Debut Camaro-Based Car at Chicago Auto Show

Posted by: admin In: Main ()

Although this isn’t an explicit announcement as to the hi-performance Camaro version we’ve been awaiting, here’s finally some official mention of the Camaro with respect to the Chicago Auto Show. Whether this is actually referring to a version of the Camaro which will be unveiled at the show, or to some other GM/Chevrolet model is up for interpretation, but fun it’s fun to speculate. In any case, we’ll know for sure in just a few days time!

General Motors North American President Mark Reuss has said that the automaker will unveil a vehicle based on the Chevrolet Camaro platform. Reuss said GM will show off the new vehicle at the Chicago Auto Show next week.

Cajun Camaro Club Cruisin’ on the Bayou!

Posted by: admin In: Main ()

50 cars, most of which were 5th Gen Camaros, came together for a cruise and Cajun food on Saturday, January 29. A large contingent of muscle cars traveled from the Baton Rouge and New Orleans areas to Henderson, LA, met up with other enthusiasts from Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi, and enjoyed lunch together at Crawfish Town. Afterwards, they headed out for what can only be described as a cruise on the Cajun Autobahn: twisting roadways and a police escort through town, ending the day with a stop for King Cake and milkshakes! The day could only be described as a total thrill! [Event Photos]

Arizona All Gen Tri-State Cruise @ London Bridge

Posted by: admin In: Main ()

This past weekend the Arizona All Gen’s Camaro Club hosted a tri-state event in Laughlin, Arizona. 47 Camaro’s and nearly 100 people joined them from Central and Southern California, all of Arizona, and Las Vegas, Nevada as they converged on the Edgewater Hotel and Casino in Laughlin for a three day weekend of Camaro’s, cruises, and friendship – new and old.

On Saturday morning, very early, the group cruised to Lake Havasu for a day of photo ops and fun on the London Bridge. Nearly a mile and a half of beautiful Camaros wound their way through the desert on the 40 mile cruise to the bridge, where they met up with more Camaro owner’s coming in late. The Lake Havasu Police provided an escort as the Camaros pulled onto London Bridge for a once in a lifetime photo opportunity. Cameras were clicking away, an ultra light provided video and photo’s, and the crowd on the bridge applauded as the 47 Camaro’s took center stage. After the photos on the bridge were completed they rolled over to the island for more photos, then off to lunch at Javalina Cantina. Then a huge Camaro-van back to Laughlin for some adult gambling fun, and a buffet that night to close a truly epic weekend!

It’s great to see the Camaro kicking off 2011 by retaining its sales title, opening up a bigger sales lead over the Mustang and Challenger than we’ve seen since April of last year. This trend of leading the muscle car sales should hopefully continue with the Camaro convertible which has started production and should begin being delivered soon!

January Delivery (sales) Stats:

Camaro January 2011 Deliveries (actual sales): 4,763
Total 2011 Deliveries: 4,763

January Production Stats:

Here’s a first look at one of the Chevrolet/Camaro ads that will debut during the Superbowl this Sunday. The moral of this commercial is “Never mess with a Chevy”

The ad is both a commercial for the Chevrolet/Camaro and the upcoming Transformers movie "Transformers: Dark of the Moon". Check out the video inside.

Check out this great story of how a Fbodfather signed Victory Red 1LT begrudgingly left the ownership of one Camaro5 member and eventually made her way into another’s, all by chance. And of all things, this Camaro’s story is partially told by a note hidden in the Camaro by her original owner!

The story is part uplifting and part sad, but as a whole it goes to show that our Camaros really do carry on a “life,” derived from the personal experiences of their owners, whether they be owned by one or several owners in their lifetime.

Just announced:

Oshawa, Ontario– Rick Hendrick and Dale Earnhardt Jr. today visited Oshawa Assembly Plant to mark the start of regular production for the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible, which will arrive at U.S. dealerships beginning in February.

Hendrick, a Camaro enthusiast who purchased the first 2010 Camaro coupe offered for sale, has now also purchased the first Camaro Convertible available to the public. In both cases, Rick Hendrick acquired the purchase rights through Barrett-Jackson auctions, with all proceeds benefitting charitable causes.

“I grew up loving the Chevrolet brand, and I’ve never raced anything else,” Hendrick said. “As a Chevy enthusiast, it’s been exciting to see the Camaro return as such a world-class, high-performance car. The folks in Oshawa make some of the best products on the road, so the opportunity to meet them and thank them for what they do is a real privilege.”

Dale Earnhardt Jr., a driver for Hendrick Motorsports in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, was also present at the celebration and added, “Chevrolet has been a great partner on and off the track, and I’m very happy to be here on this special day. While I still enjoy my 1972 Camaro, I can’t wait to take home one of these awesome new convertibles.”

The 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible starts at $30,000, including destination, equipped with a 3.6L V-6 delivering 312 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque. The Camaro Convertible SS starts at $37,500, including destination, equipped with a 6.2L V-8 delivering 426 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque.
