44 SoCal Camaro5 members gathered recently for their CCSD/IECC/Socal Family Meet and Greet. They managed to get 33 5th gens and even 11 1st and 2nd gens out to the event. Not bad at all for a mid-winter meet (70 degree sunny weather doesn’t hurt)! [See their event photos INSIDE].

Per acatlover13:

Thanks to the efforts of Camaro5 members Nazz, Scrmim Mimi, Tusk and many, many others, (25) 5th Gen and (2) 3rd Gen Camaros kicked off the new year with an awesome meet & greet and cruise along the white sands of Pensacola and Navarre beaches (enjoying our Florida snow!) We’ve heard of some groups out there that are starting to “burn out” on get togethers, but we are still going strong and growing bigger and better everytime, so feel free to join our group if yours is fizzling out!!! It appears that the 2011 Camaro will serve as the pace car for the 2011 Daytona 500 race, wrestling back the spot from the Mustang, which was last year’s Daytona 500 pace car. GM engineers were recently putting the 2011 Camaro Daytona 500 Pace Car through some shakedown tests at GM’s proving grounds in Michigan, no doubt to work out any potential kinks prior to its debut on February 20, 2011 at the Daytona 500.

GM Press Release:

DETROIT – The Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl XLV between the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers on February 6 will receive a 2011 Camaro Convertible, Chevrolet announced today.

A media panel and fan vote on www.superbowl.com will determine the MVP Award winner, announced during the Super Bowl XLV Postgame Show on Fox, presented by Chevrolet.

“The new Camaro Convertible arrives in dealerships in February and will be a fitting reward for the MVP,” said Rick Scheidt, US vice president of Chevrolet marketing. “It’s a great opportunity for Chevy to have Camaro play a role on one of the world’s biggest stages, the Super Bowl.”

Does the CTS-V SCCA race car which recently premiered at the 2011 NAIAS @ Detroit provide some styling clues as to the hood design for the upcoming 2012 Camaro “Z28″? By the looks of it, it’s certainly possible.

A look at the hood vent design of the CTS-V race car and our Camaro “Z28″ spy photos points to some similarities – most notably the vertical slats design with center bend and the way that the vent area rises aggressively out of the rest of the hood.
