Not to be outdone by their North America counterparts, our Middle East Camaro owners had their own well attended meet and cruise this past weekend. Camaro owners in the United Arab Emirates organized a cruise from Sharjah to Ras Alkhaima (200km) which started in the Liberty Motor Sport Division dealer showroom and ended with a birthday celebration dinner. Chock up another celebrity owned Camaro. Global soccer icon David Beckham is apparently the owner of this stunning Camaro SS. The LA Galaxy midfielder owns a modified 2010 Camaro which appears to have a matte gray finish with blacked out roof and matching black agetro wheels, and blacked out lights.

Beckham joins an already long list of athletes and celebrities owning a Camaro, including Anderson Silva, Randy Couture, Lebron James, Sylvester Stallone, and Ric Flair.

A pretty exciting thing is happening over at Fast Forward Motorsports in Belgium – a FIA GT track-spec Camaro build.

In collaboration with Pfadt Racing, this shop is putting together what looks to be a widebody custom look Camaro racer. Hopefully more details will come to light as it nears completion.

Camaro5 members gathered last Saturday evening at Atlanta Motor Speedway for a worthy cause, to raise money for breast cancer research. The event was sponsored by the Corvettes Serving America Foundation. Approximately twenty 5th gen Camaros from Georgia, Kentucky, Florida, South Carolina, and Virginia rolled in to strut their stuff on the track. Camaro owners purchased laps and then took to the track at speeds reported to reach 123 mph. Participants also included Corvettes (too numerous to count), Vipers, Challengers, a Mustang or two, and a few other models. [Check out their photos and videos]

Fast Lane Daily is reporting that the the 2012 Camaro Z28 will debut at the 2011 North American International Auto Show at Detroit in January. If the 2012 Z28 is scheduled to be released in the summer of 2011 as speculated, the NAIAS in January 2011 could certainly make sense as the venue at which to debut the hi-po top of the line Camaro model. We’ll see in just a few months!

The star of the upcoming Transformers 3 feature film, a 3rd generation Bumblebee Camaro, was involved in an on-set crash today with a police van which was not part of the scene or movie. The unfortunate incident reportedly occurred because the police van was on its way to an assignment when it mistakenly crossed onto the movie perimeter. It’s always sad to see a crashed Camaro, but luckily this blockbuster movie has some deep pockets so we should see this particular Bumblebee Camaro back on set soon.

Upstate NY Camaro5 members gathered for some adventuring this past weekend. The group traveled to The Windmill in Penn Yan, NY to participate in a car show. They then caravanned to the Watkins Glen International Speedway and ran a few laps on the trackway, some hitting 110mph on the straight!

Nurburgring lap times have become the gold standard by which modern day performance cars are measured and compared. The famed “Green Hell” features technical elements of all sorts and is widely considered the toughest, most dangerous, and most demanding purpose-built racing circuits in the world. It has therefore become a test track for auto manufacturers, and its demanding layout had been traditionally used as a proving ground.

A fast Nurburgring lap time signals a serious performing car and that’s why it’s so encouraging to see the Camaro Z28 prototype being tested on the Nurburgring (latest photos and video), and why our members have taken to educated predictions of the production Z28′s eventual official Nurburgring lap time [Make your prediction HERE].
