Fairway Chevrolet in Las Vegas, together with GM, will offer the second production example of the upcoming 2011 Camaro Convertible at the Barrett-Jackson Auction today, Friday (Sept. 24) at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the YMCA of Southern Nevada. The first production copy of the car will be kept by GM for historical purposes.

The winning bidder will have his choice of color, engine, transmission, trim and options and can pick the delivery location – either their hometown dealer or at the GM Heritage Museum in Detroit.

The production Camaro convertible may make its public debut at the LA Auto Show in November.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship is auctioning off a one-of-a-kind Chevrolet Camaro to benefit the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.

UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell will drive the car onto the stage of the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event in Las Vegas for the Sept. 25 auction.

The car, which was created from a partnership between the UFC and Findlay Customs and Modern Muscle Las Vegas, features a supercharged 650-horsepower engine, custom exhaust, lowering suspension kit, 2,000-watt sound system, custom paint, and UFC-fight-glove seats with suede headliner.

The event, which takes place at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, airs live on the SPEED channel.

“We are excited that we can help raise money for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund by auctioning off the UFC Camaro at the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event,” UFC President Dana White stated. “We appreciate the sacrifices the men and women of our armed forces make on a daily basis, and this auction is just another way to continue our support.”

Ten limited-edition Camaros were created.

Findlay Customs and Modern Muscle officials told MMAjunkie.com the UFC Camaros take approximately two months each to produce at a cost of approximately $70,000.

The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing support for the families of U.S. military personnel injured or lost in performance of their duty. Additionally, the fund works to assist our wounded warriors by providing facilities and services that ensure injured military personnel receive the best possible treatment our nation has to offer.

The 2011/2012 Camaro Z28 prototypes have lost some of its front end camouflage, exposing the grille, new lower front fascia (which now features a front lip spoiler which extends out very aggressively). The shape and size of the aggressive hood cowl (with scoops) can also be made out in the photos. To our eyes, it looks like there may be a scoop at the front of the cowl and 4 inlet scoops in the middle of the cowl. The silver hood pins could be there just for testing purposes.

A set of 20-inch wheels, wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar G:2 tires appear on the Z28 prototype and the brakes are those from the Cadillac CTS-V.

While the photos don’t show it, the photographer also noticed a few pieces of body-colored tape across the trunk lid on this prototype, which may be covering the fastener points for a rear spoiler.

It appears that this particular Camaro is similar to the Camaros spotted recently by one of our members in the San Diego area.

Site member gotpball44′s Camaro will have a cameo in Top Gear USA’s commercial and promo spots for the upcoming american version of the greatly popular Top Gear tv show (from the UK). The Top Gear set and shoot was located at El Mirage Lake, a dry lake bed in the Mojave Desert of San Bernardino County, California.

The filming took 3 days and lucky gotpball44 got to meet the entire cast and crew, as well as having his Camaro driven by star race car driver Tanner Foust for the shoot.
