Many auto manufacturers (especially European) offer special delivery experiences – at the company’s headquarters or at a special locale (such as BMW’s US performance center). In fact, GM has started its own unique delivery experience by offering the Corvette Engine Build Experience, the first program of its kind. The program allows anyone ordering a 2011 Corvette Z06 or ZR1 the option of traveling to GM’s Performance Build Center in Wixom, Michigan, and hand assembling their own car’s LS7 or LS9 engine for $5,800 (with supervision of course).

The buzz surrounding the Camaro convertible has been impressive and the droptop Camaro version has been named to Wired’s list of “One of 10 Cars You Can Bet Will Be Classics.” Wired.com is no expert automotive publication, but it’s still great to see the Camaro convertible receiving some well deserved attention outside of the automotive community.

Site member FenwickHockey65 was able to catch Number3 during his roadtrip with a 2011 Camaro convertible capture test fleet vehicle between Michigan and Florida, the first of such kind.

He has been kind enough to share photos of the Camaro droptop with its roof in both retracted and non-retracted positions, as well as one of the first ever videos of the automatic Camaro convertible top being folded.

Brazil is proving to the home of the best Camaro television commercials yet. In addition to this previous commercial, Chevrolet Brazil has now launched another new Camaro commercial, this time featuring a new version of the song “It’s in the silence of a chevrolet” that proved a successful slogan in the late 80′s.

These commercials are part of the campaign to launch the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro in Brazil – the press launch and test drives have just taken place last week at the test factory in Indaiatuba.

Here is a rough translation of the commercial’s lyrics:

“It is the silence of a Chevrolet, that my heart beats louder … As the world loses its way, I find myself in me, and here’s what I’ll always follow …. my heart beats louder …. within a Chevrolet … beats louder in a Chevrolet … As the world loses its way, I find myself in me, and here’s what I’ll always follow my heart …. …. beats louder within a Chevrolet … beats louder in a Chevrolet …

It was an inevitability that Lingenfelter’s monster LS9 powered 2010 Camaro break into the 8′s in the quarter mile and it has just recently done so, achieving an 8.99 second run @ 158mph [VIDEO HERE]. This was achieved with its insane 1,243 horsepowers.

The power has been achieved with an LS9 strapped with a Eaton supercharger. The Camaro’s heads were fully ported and loaded with titanium intake valves and hollow, sodium-filled exhaust valves. Long-tube headers and a two-stage nitrous system and twin fuel pumps don’t hurt either.

Talk is cheap if you can’t bring it behind the wheel. You’ve seen the episodes of The Forum Wars presented by Royal Purple, and you’ve thought, “I could do better than that!” Here’s your chance, as recruiting is set to begin for The Forum Wars Season 2.

Would you like to represent Camaro5 on the track in your modified or tuner SS Camaro? Are you willing and able to competitively run a ? mile drag race, autocross style road course and a 0-100-0 competition against a big horsepower Dodge Challenger from ChallengerTalk? We want you to compete on The Forum Wars Season 2 that will be filmed in Houston, Texas at the Royal Purple Raceway the weekend of Jan. 8, 2011.

Racers and fans of the inaugural season of The Forum Wars will experience better competition as the new season will include:

- ¼ mile NHRA drag strip
- Improved road course design
- 0-100-0 racing
- Cars and drivers nominated and approved by the forums
- Additional track time for the drivers
- More evenly matched vehicles with similar mods and tires

This season’s eight (8) episode series will be promoted on national television, SPEED, and posted and promoted all over the internet. To sweeten the deal, prizes will be awarded to participants from Royal Purple, Magnaflow Exhaust, Eibach Springs, Mothers Polish and more.

Camaros from El Paso,TX, Las Cruces and Albuquerque,NM came together and met at Las Cruces to have pancakes at the International House of Pancakes. Yum! Right breakfast everyone gathered and drove to one of the world’s greatest sites White Sands National Monument whose other visitors were struck with aw as the caravan on Camaros of various colors cruise, literally, at about 9mph through the hilling dunes of burning snow. It was a great day to spend outdoors and also a great day to make new friends in the Camaro5 community. [Event Photos HERE]

This weekend, Nov. 19 & 20, almost 40 Camaros met in Valdosta, GA for our year-end celebration [photos here]. C5 members came from all over the Southeast–Tampa, Jacksonville, FL Panhandle, Alabama, Atlanta and more came to spend one last great weekend of the year sharing stories and fellowship with fellow Camaro brothers and sisters. Special thanks to the Holiday Inn Conference Center, Austin’s Cattle Company, Lowndes Cty. Sheriff’s Dept, South Georgia Motorsports Park, and Texas Roadhouse for making this a truly great weekend.
